Kristen Kancler
As a wellness editor and coach, Kristen Kancler was always dedicated to helping people heal, but found herself lost in the grind of entrepreneurial exhaustion. After a life altering experience that left her with instantaneous relief, she dove into somatic release mastery and now offers transformational healing experiences for powerhouse female entrepreneurs.
We caught up with Kristen to learn more about her journey from editor to coach to healer and what it’s like to be somatically liberated.
Healer Name ( = street you grew up on + birthstone):
Elsie Diamond
Specialty:
Somatic Release and Rewiring
How would you describe what being a healer means to you?
I’ve only recently considered myself a healer. I started as a coach and when I began to go deeper, my work became more of a healing experience. Now, I absolutely hold a very sacred healing space and I know how to guide people to heal themselves. I think being a healer means being part of something bigger than myself and having a unique place in that web.
Tell us about your own healing journey with somatic release?
My healing journey started the first time I ever did yoga. It completely changed my life because it was the first time I connected with my body and purposefully went within. So much of my life up until then was escaping. Then, I became a wellness editor and dove into personal development workshops and lectures. I was so excited to find teachers and people I could learn from. As I completed my work as an editor, I started my own work as a coach and that put me into a healing position. A few years into my work as a coach, I had a life altering experience where I released something so deep from my nervous system it just left me. After these prior years of healing over time, this release was instantaneous. I needed to know more about what that experience was and how it had the impact it did. All of the different pieces came together for extraordinary life changing healing and transformation that I now offer my clients.
What is your methodology?
I look at the soul’s desires. We have our desires that are meant for us, yet we don’t always have them. Our soul wants us to heal, so we can manifest, and be liberated in some way. I ask questions like: What do you desire? Why don’t you have that yet? What’s in the way? There’s always an emotional trigger. Like, when I have to put myself out there, I panic and hide. We look at the limiting belief and emotional triggers and that becomes the guide.
Then, we get into the body — visualizing stepping on stage. We find the fear in the body, then we have the imprint. Next, we find the root of it. We revisit the first time you experienced it. Even if this fear is multi-generational or occurred over lifetimes, there’s a moment in our life where it’s conscious. All we need is an access point to do the healing. Then, there’s a process of releasing. There’s a shift or epiphany in the moment it’s released. The clenching and tightness feel like warmth or lightness. Just as the first somatic experience belief got stuck in the body, there’s a way to imprint the new amazing thing. Before, in that moment you’re going on stage and you’re scared to be seen, now you have a new pattering that you can’t wait to step on stage and show everyone who you are.
What does is look and feel like to be somatically liberated?
It’s really dependent on the person, what they’re releasing, and how much work they’ve already done. Some clients will go through a session crying and shaking. Then I have some clients who just take a deep breath — both reactions are equally powerful. My job is to find out what is the somatic imprint for them. Is it clenching in the stomach? A lump in the throat? It’ll be a clear somatic sensation. By the end of the session, that imprint will release, open and let go.
If anyone reading this could walk away with one understanding about the nervous system that could help their personal development work, what would it be?
One of the things I always say is that your nervous system creates your reality. That’s so powerful because it’s completely changeable. When we do the work to shift and align internally with what we desire, it becomes effortless because we’re eternally wired for a new reality.
What is the impact you’re looking to make through The Somatic Alignment Method?
The empowerment of any one person. I like to work with entrepreneurs because I can help leaders, who want to make an impact with others, with their own healing and possibility.
You cater to ambitious female business owners. How has this work helped you on your own entrepreneurial journey?
I used to be crazy town, on my computer at 4am, driving myself into the ground, and unable to make decisions and move forward – holding myself back in my truth and expression. With this work, I opened up those spaces and channels in my own internal system and began to view the world differently. I don’t get triggered like I used to and now I have such a capacity to hold space for someone else’s stuff.
What’s one truth you’d like to say out loud to the collective?
You attract what you’re available to receive — all the good stuff you want to receive, and if you’re receiving things you don’t want, there’s also a part of you that’s open to access that. It’s empowering to see the dynamic you’re in and remembering it’s just an invitation to go into these spaces.
